This Dh12.8 billion program aims to transform the district into a global innovation powerhouse. Specifically, the plan focuses on two flagship projects District IO and Block 14. These initiatives will strengthen Dubai’s position in the global knowledge economy. Furthermore, the expansion supports the ambitious goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
District IO: The Future of Technology
District IO is the center of this expansion with an Dh11 billion investment Indeed, this project will provide advanced infrastructure for research and development. It will feature 25 LEED-certified buildings, including 18 commercial towers and four residential blocks. Moreover, the district focuses on cutting-edge sectors like AI, robotics, and quantum computing. Consequently, District IO is expected to create over 70,000 direct and indirect jobs by 2036.
Block 14: Enhancing Residential Lifestyle
The Dh1.8 billion Block 14 project will serve as a modern residential hub. Notably, it sits near the future Dubai Metro Blue Line station. This location offers seamless connectivity for residents and professionals. Additionally, the district aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. It features world-class amenities and green spaces to improve urban liveability. Therefore, Block 14 will become a preferred destination for the global talent moving to DSO.
Economic Impact and Vision 2036
This strategic expansion will contribute Dh103 billion to Dubai’s GDP over the next decade. As a result, it will attract up to Dh30 billion in foreign direct investment. Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that Dubai must always anticipate future trends. Thus, the Dubai Silicon Oasis expansion provides a flexible environment for over 6,500 companies. This project ensures that Dubai remains a magnet for the world’s most creative minds.
A New Era for Startups and SMEs
District IO will offer specialized laboratories and funding support for new startups. In addition, it provides all-inclusive business setup solutions. Specifically, sectors like Web3 and 3D printing will find a perfect home here. Phase one of the construction will begin in 2026. Meanwhile, hospitality and experience centers will follow in 2027.
