The Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility) has announced a major update for Abu Dhabi NYE parking and toll charges for the New Year 2026 holiday. To facilitate smoother travel for residents and tourists heading to fireworks displays and festive events, public parking and toll gates across the capital will be free of charge on January 1, 2026. This move is part of the city’s strategy to ensure a hassle-free celebration for everyone in the emirate.

Mawaqif Free Parking Schedule

According to the official announcement, Abu Dhabi NYE parking under the Mawaqif system will be free from Thursday, January 1, 2026, until 7:59 AM on Friday, January 2, 2026.

  • Important Note: While parking is free, motorists are strictly advised to avoid parking in prohibited areas or blocking residential parking spaces (reserved from 9:00 PM to 8:00 AM) to avoid fines.
  • Mussafah M-18: The truck and bus parking yard in Mussafah will also be free of charge during the holiday.

Darb Toll Gate Exemptions

In addition to free parking, the Darb toll gate system will be suspended on New Year’s Day. Motorists can pass through all four major bridges—Sheikh Zayed, Sheikh Khalifa, Al Maqtaa, and Mussafah—without paying the usual AED 4 fee on Thursday, January 1, 2026.

  • Resumption: Regular toll charges will resume during peak hours (7:00 AM – 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM) on Friday, January 2.

Public Transport and Bus Timings

For those who prefer not to drive, Abu Dhabi NYE parking updates are accompanied by extended public transport services.

  • Bus Schedule: Buses will operate on a weekend/official holiday schedule.
  • Sheikh Zayed Festival: Extra bus trips have been added to transport visitors to the festival site in Al Wathba, ensuring people can enjoy the record-breaking fireworks without traffic stress.
  • Labour Bus Restrictions: Please note that labour buses are restricted on the Abu Dhabi–Al Ain Road (E22) until Thursday morning to ease congestion.

Customer Happiness Centres

All ITC Customer Happiness Centres in Abu Dhabi will remain closed on January 1, 2026. However, residents can still access all services 24/7 through the Darbi or Darb mobile apps and the TAMM digital platform. If you face any issues with your Abu Dhabi NYE parking, the unified service support centre is available at 800 850.

Impact on Residents and Visitors

By removing parking and toll costs temporarily, Abu Dhabi authorities are encouraging families to explore the city’s landmarks and enjoy the festive spirit. Whether you are heading to the Corniche for fireworks or visiting the Sheikh Zayed Festival, these transport measures ensure that your 2026 begins on a stress-free note.
